Last night, Dolores O’Riordan died. She was the vocalist of The Cranberries, a band that unusually added a different color to my high school life.

In 2008, I was still a sophomore at Assumption College of Davao. We didn’t have a computer yet, so to kill time and boredom, I was renting out DVDs from our neighbor. I watched Click, a movie by Adam Sandler, and that’s where I heard Linger.

Since then, it became my favorite song until now. My other favorites include Ode to My Family and Just My Imagination. I even remember my high school friends getting a little bit weirded out when I sang Linger during a karaoke session. Oh, those times.

Whenever I hear this song, I feel warm and sad at the same time because it reminds me of my friends and the innocence & bliss that I will never feel again.

Nonetheless, rest in peace, Dolores. Your voice and legacy will linger on. TS
